Does he really know this or is he making excuses because he’s never done this before? Never mind, we give up and take our money with us. This bank has a still more complex way to enter but FINALLY we are speaking to a bank officer…he says no, we can’t open an account at the bank because we need two additional pieces of id. But now she tells us that they’ve run out of cards so we should try another branch of the bank a few blocks away. At first she bristles at the thought of us depositing money in her bank but then after speaking to her boss, she decides it’s okay…we can open an account with a debit card. Well after taking a number and waiting for a teller, we are told to speak to the lady at the new accounts desk…after all, we are here to open a new account. The arrangement for entering this one was even more complex with people already inside trying desperately to figure out how to get out. So okay, we couldn’t tell the difference between the two but sure enough, down the block – voila, a bank. You enter this high security pod looking thing and after you are free of metal objects (they put lockers outside the entrance for those things) they allow you into the bank…or in this case, the credit union. We set out early to find a bank after a full-on American style breakfast at home…gaining entrance to a bank here is challenging to say the least.
